The Adjudicator - Mr Colin Dolley, GODA
Past vice-chairman of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators, Colin has recently been elected for a third term on to the GODA council. He is also a member of the Scottish Association of Speech and Drama Adjudicators. He trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in the art of theatre criticism and was head of English and drama in a large Surrey secondary school. For many years he was theatre critic for a West London newspaper and has served on the Barclay’s award panel assessing professional productions nationwide.
An extremely busy adjudicator, his numerous engagements have ranged throughout the British Isles - and beyond; last year he was in Antwerp judging the European Festival. He has adjudicated the national all-winners festival and national finals in England Scotland and Northern Ireland. Last year he completed the set by judging the Welsh finals at Swansea.
In addition to running drama workshops, Colin is a free-lance director,having directed more than thirty plays ranging from “Amadeus” to “Bedroom Farce” and “A Streetcar Named Desire” to “My Night with Reg”.
He is co-writing “A Companion Guide to the One-Act Play and Writers”, which will be published later this year. He has also edited the book “On Being a Drama Adjudicator”.
Currently on the training team for a national telephone help-line, he also uses his assessment skills as a “mystery visitor” for restaurants and bars.
He is delighted to be adjudicating the Northern Area Final of the All- England Festival.Trophies Awarded
